  1. Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing with regard to the general English course I took at your academy last month. I am completely dissatisfied with the service received because of several reasons.
Firstly, I got disappointed when I arrived at the school and realized that it was really far from the city centre. Moreover, there was not any nearby bus stop and it took me a long time to get to the centre of Oxford. As a result, I could not go sigthseeing as much as I would have liked.
Secondly, all the students in my group where from Spain, in spite of the fact there were a lot of students from other countries. This situation made it difficult to keep all the communication in English, as when we were unable to express ourselves in English we did it in Spanish, which slowed our progress.
Finally, the service provided by the facilities of the academy were of a rather poor quality. For instance, the canteen had such tight timetables that all the students had to eat at the same time and I usually had to wait half an hour before eating because there were not enough employees.
I would be grateful if you would send me a partial refund.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
    Yours faithfully,
    Samuel Ortiz.

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to complain about my recent stay at your language school.
I decided to attend this school because I read some information about it on your web-site that convinced me to choose it, but the problems started as soon as I arrived.

Firstly, it is said in the advertisement that the school is situated in the centre of Oxford, but this is not true. I had to take the bus every time I wanted to go to the centre of the city and it took me about 20 minutes to arrive, so it was a waste of time for me.

Secondly, I expected to have native teachers, but unfortunately my teacher was Spanish and almost all of my partners were Spanish too. So we didn’t speak in English all the time and it seems to me that I would have learnt more with native teachers and in a group in which I had to speak in English more time. Moreover, I expected to be in a small group as you advertised, so I was really disappointed when I discovered on my first day that we were 15 students in class.

Another cause for complaint was the timetables. One of the main reasons for choosing your school was that you offered late afternoon classes. It was like that at the beginning of the course but the timetables were changed later and as a consequence I had to leave my part-time job in the morning, which was an enormous problem for me.

With regard to the accommodation, it is true that the price was fair but on the other hand I had to share the bathroom with a girl from other room.

As you can see I have found a lot unexpected problems in my stay at your school which have increased my expenses increased as you didn’t give me what you offered in your advertisement.

I would like you to look into this matter as soon as possible and send me a complete refund.
Please contact me within 15 days of the date of this letter.

    Yours faithfully,

    Dear Mr. Johnson,
I have just finished a Business English Course in your academy, which I met on your Internet website. I would like to express my disappointment with the service I received.
Firstly, the teacher was an English native speaker, but he was not fully qualified. He was only a student of English language and literature. Besides, he did not know anything about business teaching! I have only learnt a few words of business English.
Another cause of complaint was the group size. In my classroom there were fifteen students, quite a few students more than your website said. The teacher could not pay attention to each of their students.
With regard to accommodation I want express my complaint too. The rooms were dirty; the furniture was old and damaged. Having your room cleaned properly was just an illusion. Moreover it was too difficult to wait for a well-cooked meal and just in time. The prices were not reasonable at all. That is the reason why I used to eat in restaurants outside.
Finally, for all these reasons, I feel that your academy should consider a partial refund. I think three hundred pounds could be fair. In case you do not pay attention to my request, I shall be forced to claim to consumer authorities.
I look forward to a prompt reply and hope that you will take my complaint into consideration.
    Yours faithfully,

    Dear Sir or Madam
I am writing with regard to my stay in your “quality language school”. I feel I must complain about the information you show on your website, which helped me to choose your school, and what I received during my stay.

First, I would like to express my disappointment with the location of the academy, because it is in the suburbs and not in the centre of Oxford. I had to commute when I wanted to get to the centre of the town.

Regarding the teachers, not all of them were native English speakers. I don’t understand the difficulty to find them in England.

Concerning the group sizes, they were too big. A fifteen persons group is not the ideal size for a foreign language class.

Finally, the accommodation had a reasonable price, but during all my stay, I was unable to find the bathroom, that according to the ad, should be inside my room.

In order to resolve these matters, I am requesting a partial refund of 35% for my stay in your Academy. I hope you will take this point into consideration.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

    Yours faithfully,

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing with regard to an English course I´ve been taking in your language school. I wish to complain about the service I received for the money I paid.
Although the teachers were generally willing to solve my doubts or questions, they weren´t native English speakers. None of them (Ashan, Lukasz, Mahal or Reinalda) were from an English speaking country and I could notice their gramatical mistakes (and I´m not exactly and advanced student).
Another cause for complaint is the "variety" of timetables to choose from. I understand that late afternoon wasn´t the most requested time and, maybe, it isn´t worthwhile for you...but it was written in the print-out from the academ`y's web site...for me it was an enormous problem not to find late afternoon courses when I arrived there...I had to change my au-pair Schedule.
Finally I must say that I couldn´t find the canteen...because there wasn´t any! When I asked your staff about that matter they told me they were working on it, they were waiting for the money (from the Direction of the school) to buy some tables and chairs, microwaves and a fridge...I couldn´t believe it!!!
In order to resolve all these problems I am requesting for a partial refund of the money I paid.
Please contact me to confirm that you've received my letter and if you need more information you may reach me at (0034)333222111.
    Yours faithfully,

  6. Dear Sir / Madam,

I am writing to complain about my stay at Holmes English Academy last summer. I feel extremely disappointed because there were several points which did not fit the ones included in your website advertisement.

First of all, the school was supposed to be in the centre of Oxford, but it took me almost an hour and two different means of public transport to get there every morning, and it is well known that public transport is very expensive in England.

Another cause for complaint was that, according to the advertisement, the groups were small, and we were up to 15 people in my class, so I could not get the attention of the teacher as much as I should have.

Finally, I rented a room in the university residence, which was supposed to be an individual one. However, when I arrived there I was said that individual rooms were over, and I had to share mine with another student who I did not get on well with.

I do not usually complain, but in my opinion the academy does not meet the requirements specified in your website, so I think your company should consider a partial refund.

I am looking forward to a prompt reply and hope you will take into consideration these complaints, which I feel is absolutely justified.

    Yours faithfully,
