ReplyDeleteHi Sally,
Sorry, have been so busy and I haven’t been able to write you sooner, but I have to give good news. In spite of my nervousness all these months, I have got the job!
You know, it has been crazy with many interviews and exams with different people until two weeks ago.
Last week, I started working and now I am looking for a flat where to live, because I have stayed at Philip’s flat but, as you know he is living with his children and I don’t want to bother them anymore.
A workmate told me that many workers used a noticeboard to advertise different things, so I decided to have a glance at it and I found an interesting advertisement, where a man was offering an empty room in his flat.
At first sight, it seemed to be a good option because it was situated fifteen minutes walking far from the office, I made an appointment with him by email and I am sure that you couldn’t imagine what happened. Surprinsingly, he was one of my bosses!
Now I am very confused, I don’t know what to do, because I think it isn’t a good idea to spend twenty hours a day with your boss working and living together, what do you think?
This is a nice place near the office and the rent he is asking for is only four hundred euros!
Please write me soon, I am completely puzzled.
Kisses,
Carmen
Hi Anthony,
ReplyDeleteIt's been such a long time since the last time we talked. Sorry for that, I have been so busy here in Madrid.
Remember I have been looking for a flat? Finally, I have found a little flat near my job and I share it with two young university students. I think I'm lucky because the rent is not high and my flatmates are very kind. Last night, as it was Friday we went for a walk and to drink some beers. It was fantastic, Madrid has a lot of pubs and bars where you can enjoy yourself so much.
About my job, I'm working in a big company and the salary is good, but we work hard, 10 hours a day. I'm not sure but maybe in a near future I will have to travel around Europe to contact with clients. I like travelling on holidays, but I don't like the idea of travelling for business.
What about your studies? last time we talked I remember you told me that you had only one subject left to finish your degree. Did you do the last exam? Any luck with that? I hope so. When you finish it we can meet in Madrid and you will know my home and my workplace.
Nothing else for the moment. Hope to receive news from you soon.
Best wishes,
Sergio
Hi Kris,
ReplyDeleteHow are you doing? I haven´t had news from you for ages, and these days I´ve missed you a lot.
As you know, last year I finished my degree and I was looking for a job for a while. I was very frustrated to see how bad the things were out there but, you know what? I made up my mind and I came to Germany!!
Here I live in a flat with two guys, one from France and the other one from Italy but I seldom see them at home. I don´t pay much for the room so I can survive with the money I earn as a waiter. Anyway I hope to find a better job soon maybe as an engineer and, who knows, I could buy my own car!.
To be honest, I was a bit depressed the first fortnight because I was here alone and I didn´t know any word in German. But now, I´ve met nice colleagues at work and they introduced me to other interesting people. Besides I usually take to German lessons so now I´ve lost the fear of speaking in public. At least I know enough to get by.
Have to work now my friend but hope you respond me as soon as posible.
All the best.
Hi Jane!
ReplyDeleteIt was great to receive your email. It's wonderful to know that you have found a job in my village. I think we ought to celebrate it with a special party. Don´t you think?
As you know, Liencres is a marvellous place. There are sand dunes and a pine forest close to my house. The restaurant in which you are going to work is in front of my house so I'll enjoy having you working in this place.
By the way, do you know where you are going to live? I'm afraid my house isn't big enough; besides, I live with my daughter and her father. The more I think about it the more I realize that we should buy another house, a bigger house.
Of course If I had a better job I would buy another house here, in Liencres. Unfortunately it's not possible. I'm fed up with this terrible crisis!
I suppose you have already found a place to live in. Haven't you?
Well, It's time to go. Please, write soon.
Look after yourself.
Sara.
Hi Cris,
ReplyDeleteHow's it going? Glad to hear about you moving out of your parent´s house. What´s your new place like?
As I told you in our last letter, I´ve been looking for a place to buy to start living with Pol, and you know what? I found it!
You are not going to believe it! I found it searching on the Internet on a web page destined to this kind of stuff. It was a bargain, central, in a good neighborhood, so we called the owners and paid a deposit to keep it reserved.
We dealt with a lot of banks for several weeks but in the end we got a mortgage and now we are having it repaired.
I feel excited to start living with him, but I don´t know when we´ll be able to move there, because firstly, we need to buy white goods for the kitchen, go to Ikea to buy flat pack furniture, I know you love it! etc.
By the way, do you remember Sara, from school? I saw her in the bank asking for a mortgage too, and she´s pregnant! Can you believe it?
Well, got to go now.
Take care of yourself
Hi Marco,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your email. It was a marvellous surprise to receive news from you!
Since you are in love, you have forgotten your old friends. But we don't forget you! That's why I have invited you to spend the next Christmas with us. Of course, your adorable and unknown girlfriend is very welcome!
I'm telling you now (so early), because this way, you don't have any excuses, like that the plane tickets are so expensive. You can already book a couple of seats with Ryanair for just 20€!
The plan will be to rent a house in the mountains of Picos de Europa, maybe in Liébana, so that we can enjoy a proper white Christmas. And the house, of course, will have a fireplace!
Think about it, and tell us your decision.
If you came, you would meet my new flatmate. He is a nice guy, but sometimes quite strange. He works in a lab, and that is the reason why I think he is so clean..., extremely clean! Thank Good, we have two bathrooms, because otherwise, I don't know how I could meet his expectations!. Until today, this freaky point is an advantage.
He is a very cultivated person, which is normally a really good thing; you can learn a lot with him, but you can feel quite stupid and brainless as well sometimes...
The main point is that I am alone anymore, and he helps me with my epileptic seizures. I've told you he works in a lab, and that's because he is a professor at the university and cooperates in an important cancer project. So, as you see, I have found the perfect flatmate!
It's time to go to my English class.
See you soon!
All the best,
María
PS Tell me about your decision for Christmas!
Hi Alice!
ReplyDeleteHow are you? I hope you´re well. This time I´m writing to tell you my current living situation.
Nowadays I´m living in a small flat in Santander, but I hope to live in a house in countryside, but not too far from Santander. A place from where you can see the landscape and the stars.
I live with my fiancée, we are about to get married and we want to have several dogs. We are waiting to buy the new house before having dogs, because a small flat doesn´t have the best conditions to have animals.
I found my flat when I started to work, it was ten years ago. At this moment I only need a room and the most important feature buy a flat was the situation, and therefore I bought it in the city centre.
Now my housing priorities have changed and I want to sell the flat and to buy a house. I know that it isn´t a good moment, but I´ll try it.
Take care
Look after yourself.
Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteI got your email address on the internet and although we haven't seen each other for long, I´d like to resume our friendship.
As you know,I lived in Madrid for four years before moving back here again. And, well, maybe you don´t know I've got married and I have a five -month- old baby.
Currently I'm living at my parent's house, I'm just staying here on a temporary basis. We aren't very comfortable because the flat is located on the outskirts and is very small. In fact, they've left their room for us.
Unfortunately, I'm not working now, but my idea is to find an aparment near the city centre, that way we won't need a car, and when Matias goes to the nursery I'll start working again.
Yesterday I visited a stunning apartment near the post office, but the worst was when the owner told me how much the rent was. If you know anything about flats, I'd appreciate your help on this.
Well, that's all about me, can you tell me about you and your family? Please give me a call or send an email when you can.
I hope to see you soon.
Soraya
Hi John,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your email. I was looking forward to hearing something about you because we haven’t spoken recently. I’m very glad to hear that everything is going so well for you.
I have some important news because I moved house two months ago. You know we lived in a small flat in Santander and that my wife and I were already looking for a bigger house since our son was born because we needed more space.
We had been looking at some houses in the outskirts of Santander because we wanted a small garden in which our son could play, so finally we decided to buy one of these there. Firstly we visited several estate agent’s in order to know about characteristics, location and prices of the houses that they sold. After that we went to see the area where the houses for sale were situated, and we found one that we liked very much.
We contacted the estate agent’s to know the price and see if we could afford the purchase. As the price was within our limits we made an appointment to visit the building. We fell in love with the house because it had everything we needed, so we both thought that it was the house we wanted. After that we made an offer trying to negotiate the price, but we could hardly reduce it. Nevertheless, it doesn’t matter, because despite everything we believe that we have made a good purchase.
After some work we have a really warm home, with enough space for all of us and our things. Besides we take advantage of the small garden because we are outdoors all the time, breathing fresh air without going out for a walk, and sometimes we can even sunbathe.
Well, I have to finish now. Please write soon and tell me about your new job.
Best wishes,
Julio
Hi Yolanda,
ReplyDeleteHow is it going? Hope you’re well. I’m wishing you were here to hold you, but time goes by quickly and we’ll meet there soon.
As I told you before, I’ve never been to UK, so I’ve got mixed feelings about my trip, even more after all that “Brexit” mess. I feel really excited, but also a bit concerned about being so far from home for 6 months.
I’d like to improve my English level. I’m not used to speak in English, so it’s gonna be a hard beginning till I get used to. Please, be patient with me!
Sure!, I’d like to find a job that helps me with the money. I’d be very grateful if you could help me with that. As you know I’ve got computer skills but I’m willing to accept whatever you could offer me. Let me know as soon as you find something! Don’t hesitate to call me if the employer needs any further information.
Don’t forget to buy me a ticket for the Christmas Concert! I’ll transfer money to your account tomorrow. I really appreciated all your help.
I must stop now, mom is waiting for me. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Love,
Eduardo
Hi Steve!
ReplyDeleteHow are you doing, mate? Many thanks for your last email, it was great to hear from you again! I didn’t know you had moved to Brighton. You must be really happy there with your family.
By the way, did you know I’m living in Derry now? In fact I moved out last month, since I got a job as a quality engineer in Bosch. The job is super interesting and to be honest, I did need a change in my life after breaking up with my girlfriend. So, I took advantage of a job offer I came across on the internet. I applied for it and I finally got it after passing some skype interviews successfully!
My colleagues are very thoughtful and it is quite easy to get along with them. I have to work with many worldwide suppliers and this gives me the chance to travel a lot. As you know, I am into travelling and, even if they are just business trips, I am able sometimes to visit new cities, meet different cultures and share experiences with local people.
Maybe you could book a flight and spend a weekend here at home. It would be amazing to see each other again after these last couple of years. No matter how busy you are, you should come; I am sure we will enjoy together! Think about it and give me your feedback.
Take care and see you soon.
Jorge.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI´m sorry I haven´t been in touch for such a long time but I´ve been so busy. I´ve found a new job abroad and I´ve had to prepare lots luggage and documents like the passport to travel to the USA to start working as soon as possible.
How are you? I hope you and your family are well.
I´ve been living in New York for 2 months. I´m sharing a terraced house with 2 Americans. They are really nice and helpful with me with any trouble I have. Both of them are studying at medical school. They are from San Francisco and Florida. They´ve told me that they´ll invite me to visit their cities any weekend. I´m so glad here because I´ve met a lot of people and I don´t feel lonely in an unknown country.
I´m working as a salesperson in a shop. I think it´s very rewarding to work with customers because you have to talk with them everyday. It´s a great advantage for me because of my English. I don´t have too much knowledge of it and I would like to improve my level. I think this is the best way to do it.
I was wondering if you´d like to come on holidays with me?
I´ll show you the best places of New York. I promise you the best holidays ever!
Hope to hear from you soon
Lots of love
Jennifer
